>> Balloon Race Result (14.09.07)
Following the Open Day/Fun Day at the end of July everyone is always keen to get the results of the annual Balloon Race and see which way the winds carried them and how far they got. Quite a number of tickets were returned, especially from the Suffolk area, but the winner was Bernadette Coates of Exeter whose balloon managed to go that bit further by crossing the Straits of Dover and coming down in Belgium. There it was found by Jan Adams of Hoogstraten and duly returned. Bernadette is hoping to visit her mother in Bury at the end of September and intends to get down to the Accrington game. Thanks to everyone who took part and let's hope you have more success next year.

>> Forever Bury Beer (22.05.07)
Although the football season has finished and the players have gone off on their hard earned holidays, there's certainly no rest for the Forever Bury volunteers.
The Thresher's Group has agreed to sell our ever popular Forever Bury Beer throughout the North West. With orders already flying in and over 200 stores in the area fans have been volunteering their time to make the deliveries.
Chairman Dave Giffard has been out all day with one of the volunteers on the first delivery run dropping off supplies at Westhoughton, Fullwood, Preston, Winstanley, Wigan, Aughton, Ormskirk, Newton le Willows, Boothstown, Manchester, Davyhulme, Chorlton Cum Hardy, Sale, Didsbury, Hal Barns, Wilmslow, Stockport, Milnrow, Rochdale and Bamford.
Locally the bottled beer can be bought over the bar at the Lord Raglan, the Trackside and the Bury FC Social Club, but can also be bought in the two local Asds. If you do call in at Asda and find they are out of stock, please inform the Customer Services desk as we are trying to get them to increase their reorder level.
The beer is also available on draught at the Lord Raglan but we are keen to hear from any other pubs in the area that would be willing to take a barrel.
Having a barbecue? Why not order a barrel, it can be supplied with a handpump. All the contact details are on our Beer Festival site www.fb-beerfestivals.co.uk.
If anyone has any spare time on their hands, already have a prepaid telephone plan that gives unlimited daytime calls, and wants to sell our barrelled beer to pubs, then please get in touch. |

>> More Investment! (06.02.07)
With the Shakers having a torrid time through January, and only two home games to generate any income the Forever Bury board have invested another £5,000 of the Trust's hard-earned cash into the club. Hopefully this will go some way to help improve the cash flow. Paul Butler had a chat with our chairman, Dave Giffard, after the MK Dons game and congratulated the fans for playing their part in upgrading some of the jaded facilities at the club and wished us well for the struggle ahead.

>> Junior Shakers (06.02.07)
The new Junior Shakers club was launched at the weekend and all current junior Forever Bury members automatically become members. Over the next year, Forever Bury plans to get thousands of flyers out to the school children of the area with the help of Football in the Community officer Shaun Danby who is a co-opted director of Forever Bury. The players will also be helping to promote the scheme on their regular visits to schools.
Forever Bury already runs Junior Days where junior members and parents are taken on a guided tour of the ground on a match day, seeing all the facilities, sitting in the press box, the dug out and meeting the players in their dressing room. We are now looking to enhance these visits and hopefully hold more of them if the membership gorws.
Other trips are to be organised including a planned trip to the Football Museum at Preston in a few weeks. Also in the pipeline is a Junior Discount Scheme. |

>> AGM Apathy (20.10.06)
It was a sad turnout for our AGM as the apathy that plunged Bury FC into financial crisis finally spread to the Forever Bury membership. With a quorum of fifty needed to hold a meeting and only thirty through the doors at 7.30pm, the AGM was convened and immediately adjourned until 9.15pm. With the gathering boosted by the arrival of fans for the Fans Forum that at least managed to kick off on time at 8.15pm with the assembled guests getting a good grilling.
The AGM was reconvened after the forum and all business completed. Chairman Dave Giffard would like to thank everyone who attended for their valued input especially the people coming forward to ask about getting involved. It's quite evident that the coming twelve months are yet again going to be a struggle if the majority of fans fail to get on board and take an active role...
SO COME AND JOIN US! |

>> Forever Bury AGM and Fans Forum (16.10.06)
All Forever Bury members are being urged to turn out in force for their AGM at Bury FC's Social Club on Thursday 19th at 7.30pm. It is hoped all matters will be dealt with swiftly and the meeting can be closed soon after 8.00pm.
Having taken some criticism from a few fans recently, Bury Manager Chris Casper has stated that he would love the chance to answer them directly at a Fans Forum. So following the AGM he'll certainly get the chance to put his critics straight, if they would like to come down and face him when a Fans Forum will be held. Chris won't be on his own at the top table. Club director Iain Mills will be on hand to give the boardroom view as will new Football in the Community officer Shaun Danby.
The players will also be represented by Chris Brass, who is fully aware of the role that fans trusts can play from his time as a player/manager at York City when the York trust owned the club. Also in attendance will be striker Andy Bishop, a player currently sponsored by Forever Bury.
It should be a cracking night and although the Forever Bury AGM is restricted to members, the forum is open to all fans. So if you've something to say, come down and get it said. |

>> Disabled Supporters & FBFC Quiz Night (03.10.06)
The Disabled Supporters' Club and Bury FC Fans Team are running a joint quiz night. We need to make as many people aware as possible that this event is coming. If you know where we can get 'free' raffle prizes from, then we will be more than happy to accept them. Please get yourselves into as many teams as possible, family, friends, mates from work/school/pub... We hope to see you on THURSDAY NOVEMBER 23 at the Social Club, Gigg Lane, Bury, for what we are sure will be another great night out.

>> Sponsor Andy Bishop (21.09.06)
As many supporters will be aware, Forever Bury was instrumental in bringing Andy Bishop to the club, and he has become the Forever Bury sponsored player. As a means of raising funds we are asking supporters to sponsor Andy’s goals for this season. Individuals have already signed up to sponsor Andy for each league and/or cup goal he scores, and to date each goal is worth around £60 to Forever Bury. In addition, there are some people who have pledged a total amount for the season, rather than per goal.
It is still not too late to sponsor Andy. Just call in the Forever Bury cabin, and pick up your sponsorship form. You can sponsor him for as little or as much as you like, and per goal or a total amount for the season. Alternatively, you can download the form online here.

>> Sponsored Walk to Rochdale (15.09.06)
The Shakers are away to Rochdale on Saturday November 4th and once again Forever Bury are hoping that many of the Bury faithful making the short trip to Spotland will consider taking part in our annual sponsored walk / pub crawl. Forms and a walkers register will be available in the Cabin from Saturday 23rd September. In previous walks the most money raised on one walk by any walker is £505.00. Will that be beaten this time?

>> The Forever Bury Elections - Update (15.09.06)
Five nominees have put their names forward for positions on the Forever Bury Board - Susan Tunstall; David Giffard; Derek Boulton; Roy Ladkin; Jim Howarth. Sadly, this means that there won't be an election this time round and the society is still in need for a further 4 co-opted members. Craig Clarkson and Warren Flood have already approached us about being considered as co-opted members so we are looking for 2 more people to take a more active role.

>> Time for Change at Gigg - Update (23.08.06)
Following on from last night's superb performance and result I can now confirm that the "Time for Change" appeal has broken the £6,000 barrier with both Bury and Sunderland fans donating £94.00 of cash before the game. Thanks to everyone. The new total is £6,050.00 but the challenge is now on to see how soon we crash through £7,000 ceiling and maybe even hit the £8,000 mark by the end of the season. There's plenty of collection boxes in the Cabin we just need people to take a few and get them into pubs, sandwich shops, takeaways, etc then just call around now and again to collect the cash.

>> Cabin Visitor (23.08.06)
A welcome visitor to call in at the Forever Bury Cabin this week was Enzo an Italian from Milan who had last played on Gigg in a local amateur cup final back in the late sixties before returning to live in Italy. He was over visiting family and just wanted to take a photo of the outside of the ground before he went home but he called in at the Cabin first to check if it was ok to take a picture, but better than that, Forever Bury chairman, Dave Giffard duly gave him the customary tour much to his delight. He was packed off with a moneybox, poster and , of course, membership form.

>> Forever Bury Elections 2006 (13.08.06)
It’s that time of year again when the Forever Bury Board is looking for new blood. There are eight of the fourteen places on the board up for election. All the retiring board members are free to seek re-election.
All current Forever Bury members can stand for the board, but must be nominated by two current Forever Bury members.
The independent scrutineer must have received all nominations by 5pm on Tuesday 29th August 2006.
If there are more nominations than places on the board an election will be held and the election papers will be sent out with the AGM notice at the end of September.
The result of the election will be announced at the AGM in October.
A copy of the Election Policy, which you will be asked to ratify at the AGM is now available online here.
A nomination form is available online here.
The AGM is the were members can have a say in the future direction of the trust, all current members can put forward motions to be voted on at the AGM.
All motions need to be sent to the Secretary, at the usual address or via e-mail to secretary@foreverbury.org by the 15th September 2006. The secretary will check that the proposer is a current member and that the motion is not against the constitution or does not ask the society to do something, which is illegal. If the motion is in order it will be added to the AGM agenda to be voted on by the members.
